tidleg kveld                                                          early dusk
ei natt i emning                                                   a night's approaching

huset sukkar                                                        the house sighs
skriv eit dikt                                                         writes a poem

om tussmørke,                                                    about the darkest dark,
skumle draumar                                                 frightening dreams

og om lyset                                                          and about the light
i andre enden                                                      at the other side

(for blått og gult vert grønt                              (blue and yellow
og håpet skal ein hegne om)                             becomes green,

                                                                                and one must keep sight

                                                                                of hope)
