my heart is a boat

containing the supplies

for instant happiness

my family, my dreams

my will to do what’s right,

my hopes, my strengths

my everlasting hope

in grace of God

my heart is a boat

sailing the oceans of life,

bringing me whatever it contains;

my failures, my loss

my tears from lonely nights,

my falls, my darkness

my shameful kneeling

before the throne of God

my heart is a boat

the voyage goes across the seas

towards a distant shore
