what to do, or not to do
about your heritage –

when everyone around you reads
and books are stored in every room

and maybe your genetic code
says: read, yes read thou more!

everything you’ve got
you’ve got from
the father’s

and everything you’ve earned
you’ve earned by
your own toil

every single day
of your life
you walk a fine line
between the two –

this is earth,
my little son

this is the home
of the living

this is the soil
of the dead

this is a point
of no return –

someday you’ll fly
on soaring wings,

I give you my breath
my time as a flying school

someday my arms won’t hold
your dreams, your hopes, your faith
no more

and then, my son:
remember your heritage, remember the ground
from which you fly

and take refuge in the shadows
of your Father’s cross,

under bigger wings and greater love
where your soul can fly free!

  11. That last picture is amazing - stunning. And your words capture that feeling of letting go of our kids - sending them off to fly, off to land in the grasp of bigger arms than our own. Thanks for linking up!
